About the Golden Chamber of Commerce: The mission of the Golden Chamber of Commerce is to enhance and promote the economic environment of the Greater Golden Area through supporting our chamber members, collaborating with businesses, city, county, state and community resources; and putting forth efforts to enhance the quality of life for the community at large.
The Golden Farmers Market supports our goal of enhancing the quality of life for the community at large through supporting small businesses, connecting our community to fresh produce and products, supporting agriculture, and being a valuable part of the local food system.  Other community-facing special events also play an integral part in enhancing the quality of life for our community and generating additional revenue for the Golden Chamber of Commerce.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Golden Farmers Market
 
Farmers Market Operations Management

Weekly coordination of vendors- this includes coordination of regular vendors, drop in vendors, and rotating vendors.
Oversee and track data utilizing MarketSpread software
Attend Colorado Farmers Market Association meetings when they occur (during the week, via Zoom)
Attend meetings with Golden Chamber of Commerce staff
Day of set up and tear down- ensure all logistics of the event are in place at the beginning of each market (typically beginning at 5:45 a.m.) and that the area is completely picked up at the end of the market (typically by 2:00 p.m.). This is each Saturday of the market season, June through October.
Collect vendor check out forms and payment (as part of vendor check out process)
Keep detailed day of market notes/records
Bring water for hand wash stations and ice for coolers (to be filled up off site and then brought to the market weekly).
Set up street closure barricades pre-market (this occurs on Friday mornings)
Oversee safety and traffic including: enforcement of vendor policies as they relate to safety and traffic; responding as necessary to any safety issues involving customers/vendors of the market by calling 9-1-1
Communicate regularly and coordinate duties with Market Assistant and any market interns or other related staff
Responsible for weekly financial reconciliation & payment processing for vendors – including the collection and processing of weekly vendor fees, late fees, no show fees, etc.
Track key financial indicators and ongoing market progress and put systems in place for financial collection and record-keeping
 
Vendor Relations
Develop and manage relationships with vendors and members, ensuring timely communications and resolutions of issues
Monitor merchant operations and compliance with Golden Farmers Market rules and regulations
Provide ongoing support to vendors to ensure their success
 
 
Farmers Market Promotion and Entertainment
Work with Chamber staff to ensure there are photos of the market and assist with social media of the market as needed
Provide website information and updates as needed
Coordinate promotional activities that will aid in the marketing and ambience of the market
Ensure proper banners and signage are on site weekly for promotion of the market
Oversee promotional activities that occur on site at the market (such as give away days, etc)
Book and oversee weekly bands/entertainment and ensure timely payment to bands
 
 
Food Assistance Program
Oversee SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and Double Up Food Bucks
Ensure vendor education of food assistance programs and market shopper education of programs
Serve as market liaison to the Colorado Department of Human Services and LiveWell Colorado
Coordinate with agencies that support and provide nutrition resources and benefits and create opportunities for market presence
Promote food assistance programs with local organizations/non profits
Manage voucher reconciliation weekly and report benefits
Attend and serve on the Hunger Free Golden committee on behalf of the Golden Farmers Market
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other Community Events
 
Volunteer Management
Create and maintain a volunteer management system
Oversee all community event-related volunteers to include: volunteer email/newsletter; volunteer recruitment; volunteer thank you program/recognition and appreciation
Facilitate partnerships with other organizations to recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for all events.
Promote and aid in filling available volunteer spots for the market and other events
Oversee and support all volunteers that are on site at our events and provide any necessary training
 
Event Coordination & Logistics Support
Responsible for assisting with logistics and details of all large-scale community events to include: Golden Fine Arts Festival, Beverage Tasting & Chili Cook Off, Olde Golden Holidays, and any other large-scale community event organized by the Golden Chamber of Commerce
Coordinate sponsor benefits at the event in collaboration with the Director of Membership
Maintain documentation and files for all Chamber events as well as manage a written timeline for all events
Work within a budget for all community events
Manage the permitting process for all events
Create, maintain and oversee Emergency Preparedness plan documents for the organization
Provide event data and reports as needed by staff and board
 
 
Hours and Timeline:
During market season, the Market Manager will work each Saturday market day and engage in office work and outreach time for weekly tasks such as: correspondence with vendors; finances and record keeping; set-up and break-down of market; supporting volunteers; communicating and collaborating with Chamber staff for marketing and other needs.  Hours vary and are broken down as Training/Pre-Season, Market Season, and Post-Market Season.
 
 
Salary and Benefits: This is a 24 -28 hour per week (average) position. Salary range is $25 - $27 per hour, commensurate with experience.  Flexible scheduling and a hybrid office environment are available to support healthy work-life harmony.
 
 
Physical Requirements and Key Competencies:
  • The ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly
  • The ability to be on your feet for several hours at a time and move safely over uneven terrain
  • The ability to see and respond quickly to dangerous situations as needed
  • The ability to work outdoors in summer and fall weather conditions
  • Prior event experience a must
  • Dedication to safety standards and advanced knowledge of event safety measures
  • CPR certification (or the ability to become CPR certified)
  • Ability to work Saturdays and early hours (June through October; December)
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong computer proficiency - especially with email, spreadsheets, and word documents
  • Experience with database systems preferred
  • Willingness to learn and grow
