From about 1870 until 1920, entertainment in most cities and towns of Colorado were centered in opera houses. Silent films were shown at the many theaters on Curtis Street in Denver and at movie houses in Golden. Early filming occurred in Golden and some movie stars even lived in the surrounding area.
