National Alpaca Farm Days are coming the end of September and what better way to spend them than with over two dozen alpaca breeders and 100 plus alpacas all under one roof at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Events Center Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th. This two-day event is located indoors. Admission and parking are free. Just think, you can talk to numerous alpaca breeders from across Colorado all in a single location! The weekend will be filled with opportunities to visit with the stars of the event, the alpacas, plus you can attend many educational seminars covering farm management, animal husbandry and business practices, and of course, seminars on the fiber these wonderful animals produce. There will be demonstrations with individuals spinning fiber and needle felting while others will be showing how to weave on rigid looms and knit on rake looms to produce such items as scarves, hats, shawls, and socks. Vendors will be offering raw alpaca fleece, rovings, and yarns for sale. Also offered are finished goods such as hats, socks, scarves, coats, sweaters, blankets, and numerous other items. Huacaya and suri alpacas are available for sale as well, from weanlings to bred females, to stud quality males and geldings. Christmas will be here before you know it and what better way to show how much you care than to present your loved ones with something made from alpaca or better yet, a few alpacas!
