SUMMARY:Mental Health First Aid
DESCRIPTION:Depression. Anxiety. Substance abuse. These are but a few of the mental health\n\n	challenges people in Colorado struggle with every day. In fact\, one out of four people you\n\n	meet has struggled with a mental health problem at some point.\n\n	Mental disorders are more common than heart disease and cancer combined.\n\n\nMental Health First Aid is a 12-hour\, innovative\, hands-on course designed to give you the tools necessary to recognize mental health problems and the skills to help. Just as CPR training helps a layperson assist an individual in a physical emergency\, Mental Health First Aid training helps a layperson assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis. You'll learn more about specific mental health problems and develop a concrete action plan to help someone in a mental health or substance abuse crisis until appropriate professional care is available.\n\n\n\nYou will learn:\n\n	\n The warning signs and risk factors for depression\, anxiety disorders\, trauma\, psychotic disorders\, eating disorders\, & substance use.\n	\n A 5-step action plan to help an individual in crisis connect to professional care.\n	\n Resources available to help someone with a mental health\n\n problem.\n\n \n\nCost: $50 per participant. This includes 4 classes\, Mental Health First Aid book\, sandwiches and refreshments.\n\n\n\nAll who complete the course receive a certificate of completion.\n\nRegistration is required & space is limited.\n\n\n\nSandwiches\, coffee and light refreshments will be served
